Public Allies North Carolina prepares young adults for leadership based on knowledge, expertise and values that promote diversity as a path to broad prosperity.

The program places young adults in 10-month, paid apprenticeships with local nonprofit and government organizations that focus on community economic development. Through their service, participants develop and practice skills and values that invigorate public life: collaboration, diversity, inclusion, asset-based change, continuous learning and integrity. Their service helps strengthen the capacity of their organizations and, through their work, the communities they serve.

Public Allies is an AmeriCorps program that seeks to develop new leaders who can strengthen communities, nonprofits and civic participation. Participants work to change the face of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating their conviction that everyone can lead and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility and work together.
