The South Atlantic Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center (SBTRC) provides advocacy and technical assistance training programs that help small and disadvantaged businesses build their capacity to bid on federally funded transportation projects.
We support small businesses in the four-state region of Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Project Administrator, U.S. DOT - Small Business Transportation Resource Center
Andrew works closely with the SBTRC Director in the operations of the Institute’s Office of Small Disadvantage Business Utilization (OSDBU) programs. Andrew is directly responsible for ensuring the utilization of a tracking database that lists each small business assisted by the SBTRC, date, type of small business and type of services provided. Andrew previously managed the organization’s Construction Resource Center located at NC A&T State University in Greensboro, designed to assist minority contractors with critical project information. Andrew has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from UNC-Greensboro, and Executive Management Certification, for Design and Project Management from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Project Coordinator and Finance Manager, U.S. DOT - Small Business Transportation Resource Center
Alyssa Mako is the Project Coordinator and Finance Manager for the South Atlantic Region Small Business Transportation Resource Center, a program operated by The Institute. Alyssa coordinates the Bonding Education Program contractor-readiness program, provides technical assistance and resources to small business clients who operate transportation-related businesses.
Before joining the Institute, Alyssa worked for MBNA America Bank, holding various roles from customer service to risk analysis and new credit acquisition. Alyssa received a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Business Administration from Wittenberg University, and holds numerous certifications including Certified Global Business Professional from NASBITE International.

On-street parking near our office in downtown Durham is extremely limited during working hours, and City of Durham parking regulations limit parking in on-street spots to one hour (even if you move your car to another parking space nearby). We suggest parking in a parking deck nearby.
